May 15, 2023 - A lovely little Burg with a pretty earthy nose. Palate was silky and charming but lacking in depth. Good but no wows.
August 17, 2021 - Glad this showed well (because my other bottle was the corked Comtes). Black cherry, dirt, orange zest. A little leathery note. Drinking well but no hurry. A-/B+
April 1, 2020 - Dark and red fruited. Burg funk, earth and dark cherry aromas. Good middle with viscosity. Silky. Attractive. Clem finish. Drinking very well
September 17, 2019 - Chevillon Survey (Brasserie Margeuax): 02 Horizontal. Just behind the Cailles and strikingly similar. Very similar aromatics to the Cailles if a touch less spicy. The palate is also similar but perhaps more bright and floral. Similarly rich, dense and silky. Ethereal.
September 17, 2019 - Chevillon study (Chicago, IL): My favourite of the 2002 flight. This had the most intensity on the nose and palate. Rounded fruit, with plenty of red elements, and a really broad juicy quality on the palate really did it for me. As well, there's good freshness and acidity here, giving the cherry flavours a bit of a sour note. Bright and complex.
September 17, 2019 - Tangy black raspberry, citrus zest, grilled meat. Full and fleshy but with tangy acids. Fun! B+/A_
May 5, 2019 - Took to Schwa in Chicago. The wine was far better than the food...
March 11, 2019 - Beautiful. Well balanced. Earthy. Dark fruits.
August 28, 2018 - Welcome Back, Michelle! (San Francisco): Light red, mature edge. Lovely, complex aromas of smoke and light red fruit. Really quite delicate for Nuits, strong, supple fruit, excellent inner mouth perfume, gentle, lingering finish. Another wonderful 2002, in this case seemingly at peak drinking now.
May 25, 2018 - Pure fruit but still a baby. Nice enough but very little evolution. Hold until at least 2020.
