March 16, 2017 - Chez Flint Gevrey dinner, 8th and 9th of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, best bottles yet, attractive if old fashioned style though still tough and a tad rustic, will the fruit outlive the tannin, if so this could be significantly upmarked as something really good waiting to come out, proper GC weight. Just about F (17.5).....a d'Auvernay-Leroy '03 rounder, more generous and nicer!

June 30, 2016 - 7th of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, previous notes variable - youthful deepish red; cherry, earth and touch of spice, some meat, simple; fullish, long, brutal, something good somewhere but will it ever really reveal itself, graceless. At best VGI (17).

June 26, 2012 - Burgundy WIMPS (The Ledbury, Notting Hill, London): Youthful, deep colour. Intense, black fruited nose, vanilla, spice. Brooding. Quite full bodied on the palate, a touch chunky still with firm tannins, but plenty of depth too and with more time could well be excellent.

September 1, 2008 - Really very deep blood/garnet. Not much paler rim. Ripe dark cherry on the nose, with a nice light touch of game. Quite charming in the context of the wines so far, but not especially complex. Mouth entry is quite firm but well fruited - and really very tannic immediately behind. Mid-palate shows really good fruit density, but a big tannic grip around it. Seems well balanced and very young still. Should keep well.

March 18, 2008 - Domaine Maume Mazis Chambertin Tasting with Anthony Hanson MW (Institute of Directors, Pall Mall, London): Surprisingly dark core, medium rim. Spicy, complex nose showing slightly darker (plum?) fruit and emerging meaty notes. Slightly brooding. Good volume and density on the palate, but well proportioned with fine acidity. Quite tannic, but plenty of fruit to provide balance, still quite tight on the finish. Needs more time to give its best but should be a lovely wine in another 5 years or so.

(Maume Mazis-Chambertin) Medium-plus colour right to the rim. The nose is a really interesting and characterful mix of chalk and chocolate, wide dark fruit and fainter floral elements - super. Smooth and rather linear in the mouth, but you are borne the dark-fruit finish on fine acidity. It lingers very well but the interest is today only on the nose and finish - maybe a few years will pad-out the palate too.
