September 1, 2019 - The 2012 Gourt de Mautens remains one of the most classic expressions of this wine, showing a dusting of violet candies, blackberry, smoke, crushed stone, undergrowth, tar, and dusty soil tones. On the palate, I found soft textures offset by a brilliant mox of minerals and acids giving way to pure blackberry, plum and a hint of blueberry, followed by purple inner florals, and fine tannin. It finished refined, structured and balanced with black fruits and minerals contrasted by fine tannin. The 2012 will only get better with time.

July 10, 2019 - From a magnum. Opened, but not decanted, in a NYC restaurant, for over 50 minutes before pouring. I wasn't as knocked out by this as my previous bottle (also a magnum) from a few years ago. Still, very tasty.

April 19, 2019 - Not even close to the quality of the outstanding 2013. The harsh and drying tannins completely overshadow the fruit. Maybe they will mellow with age but I doubt it will ever be a well balanced wine.
