May 21, 2021 - Decanted 30 min. Dried blackberry, earth, smoke and tobacco. Very good for 33 yrs old.

January 25, 2020 - Bought this direct from BV in 2019 so it was in excellent shape. I know other reviews say it’s past its prime but there was enough fruit and the tannins were soft as could be. Great wine with lovely secondary notes.

November 28, 2019 - Unfortunately after tasting, I could not offer it to our Thanksgiving guests (2019) as the wine was completely over the hill. Had to throw it out.

May 11, 2019 - Raisin and port-like nose on opening. Wish I had decanted and given it some time (rookie mistake). The last glass (over about an hour) was overflowing with wonderful fruit...raspberry, cranberry...and so much more. I will decant my last bottle of this next time.

April 22, 2019 - BV Georges de Latour Vertical from 4 Decades: '64, '80, '84, '89, '98 (St. Paul, MN): Dark red color with a about a 6mm orangish transitional margin. Splash decanted, drank a glass over 90 minutes. This starts with some funk and an good dose of damp earth, which for me largely blew off, followed by red raspberry and wood spice notes, dried earth, shitake mushroom, and a perfume of red fruit that emerges mixed with a gorgeous pencil note. Ted described it as the smell of plastic air mattress (which he loves) and I can see that in the high toned perfum of aromatics. The palate is also a bit funky to start, plenty of earth, good acidity, well polished and integrated tannins, dusty cherry, dark red fruits and a pure cassis note with graphite, mineral, and a lovely texture that leads into a long finish. Another excellent bottle and one that also shows this has some life left. Excellent, more earthy and just overshadowed by the '98.
