Community Tasting Notes 9

October 30, 2022 - I was a little apprehensive following an ever so slightly corked bottle last weekend. No need to worry - there's some bricking here, and it's definitely in a somewhat mature stage, but a lovely nose to it - earthy and gentle - and a light, herbaceous, somewhat savoury palate. There's a slight lingering heat from the alcohol that pulls this back from being a truly lovely wine, but I'm glad I still have a few in the cellar.

October 1, 2022 - Piemonte Wimps (La Trompette): Looks older than the preceding wine, more bricking around the rim. And almost went in the opposite direction - on opening, clearly more perfumed, more elegant, but seemed to somewhat fall apart at the end - like a guitarist attempting a complex solo and not quite being able to pull it off. With some air, became more together. I have a few bottles left and will endeavour to drink them in the next year or two - but still more than pleasurable.

April 2, 2022 - Friday Night with Fish & Chips & Tiny Glasses: This seems to be getting to the mature stage. Drank from a tiny glass in a Cornish holiday home with superb fish and chips. Lovely structure to it, strong backbone. Seems to be losing the cherry sourness but there is still good acidity. Very nice drop. Also last time we go on holiday without wine glasses - absolute rookie move.

March 21, 2022 - Sunday evening with Lasagne and Clone Wars: Lovely bottle of this. Super expressive nose. Some bricking - seems fully open for business at this stage. It has the structure but is also very giving of its pleasures. Very pleased to have a few more of these in the cellar.

March 11, 2022 - Enjoyed with pasta, meatballs and a house of Covid. Remaining 3/4 of a bottle which had been coravined 2-3 weeks ago. Hard to get much on the nose but that’s me, not the wine. Deep purple. On the palate - still somewhat tight, a bit of marzipan, a bit of cherry stone. Just the ticket.
