May 19, 2019 - Hasn’t budged in the last year. It’s firm and serious but plenty of joy to be had if you are patient and give it some time to breath. Cherry, rose water, liquorice root and earth. The length builds with air time. Lovely.

October 6, 2018 - In no small part, reflects the quality of the vintage and quality Barolo. My basic thought here is that as pronounced as the difference is between old style Bordeaux and modern style Bordeaux, the difference between old style Barolo and modern style Barolo is even more pronounced. It seems to me that the balance point is different in good vintages. And it isn't about wood. Old style barolos never closed up like this, and I've been drinking them off the boat since the early 70's. Remains to be seen whether they will ultimately deliver the mouth filling tar and roses generosity of old style Barolo when they come out of this shell. Three hours in shows major heat. Another issue - whether modern style barolo can carry this heat.

April 22, 2018 - Lost my notes. Decent juice. A bit young. Not overly memorable.

March 29, 2018 - Decanted in caraffe 2 hours before first tasting. Kept it in caraffe (chilled) the following days.
Day 1: Very disappointing. Tastes oxidized! Would give it 70 points.
Day 2: Actually much better. No oxidation, but not very impressive. Doesn't taste like a Barolo, but drinkable. Would give it 85 points.
Day 3: Starting to become a quite nice wine. Still quite tannic, not a typical Barolo, but quite good with grilled filet of beef.

February 2, 2018 - Wow tannin! Needs a good decant or drink over a few days. Softened significantly with air and the flavours really started to come out. Black tea, red fruits with spice and liquorice root. Clean minerally acidity. Solid acid and tannin structure as expected but pretty approachable now as long as it gets some air. Beautiful but assertive.
