October 20, 2019 - Not hugely complex. Quite ripe in fruit. A nice wine, but no huge X factor here. Not really value at the price. Not sure that age will deliver anything further in complexity.

September 13, 2019 - Decanted thirty minutes. Modest red fruit nose with some touches of spice. The palate is rich red cherries, tar and licorice. It is very open and drinkable for a Barolo with a nice medium length finish. I don’t think this has the aging potential or complexity of the best Barolos.

May 19, 2019 - Hasn’t budged in the last year. It’s firm and serious but plenty of joy to be had if you are patient and give it some time to breath. Cherry, rose water, liquorice root and earth. The length builds with air time. Lovely.

October 6, 2018 - In no small part, reflects the quality of the vintage and quality Barolo. My basic thought here is that as pronounced as the difference is between old style Bordeaux and modern style Bordeaux, the difference between old style Barolo and modern style Barolo is even more pronounced. It seems to me that the balance point is different in good vintages. And it isn't about wood. Old style barolos never closed up like this, and I've been drinking them off the boat since the early 70's. Remains to be seen whether they will ultimately deliver the mouth filling tar and roses generosity of old style Barolo when they come out of this shell. Three hours in shows major heat. Another issue - whether modern style barolo can carry this heat.

April 22, 2018 - Lost my notes. Decent juice. A bit young. Not overly memorable.
