March 23, 2024 - My third and final bottle, and all 3 of been pretty dang terrific. At a decade in, the classicism that is the 2014 Chablis vintage has made a rock solid foundation for this wine to grow and develop. And it has done so impressively. We still have the Granny Smith and some oceanic matter swirling around, but this has increased it mineral presence over the last 4 years since my last go. Oh the nose, it has the Chablis holy trifecta for my nostrils: Iodine / flowers / spearmint, maybe not the most aromatic, but get these three together and I'm happy. Almost bittersweet opening a 14 Chablis these days, as we all wonder if we will ever see anything like this particular vintage again. Sure don't make em' like they used to.
August 1, 2021 - After 4 years since my last bottle, The 14 Les Lys has evolved and continues to shine very brightly. Strikes an intricate balance between fresh green apple sweetness and maritime traits such as sea mist etc that makes a good 14 Chablis so attractive. This is a very good Chablis. Drink now and over the next 5 years, perhaps a bit longer.
March 31, 2021 - This is terrific Chablis but still a smidge bracing. Will it ever chill out? Intense, tension filled citrus, stone fruit, saline mineral and appealing sea shore aromas. Only 12.5% alc is amazing these days! I waited 2-1/2 yrs since my last btl and its still a work in progress but heading in the right direction...glacially. Wish I had 3 more and could start on them in a couple years :). Color is a healthy light gold. Zingy fresh remarkable.
February 5, 2021 - Au gout de grand cru! Excellent, complet et une belle longueur. Wow!
November 20, 2020 - Again. Just lovely. 12.5%
October 7, 2020 - Not as racy as a couple of other Crus. Elegant and slight held back. Medium acidity. Nose is quite muted. Could do with some air before you drink this.
June 24, 2020 - Same. Amazing QPR.
June 13, 2020 - Consumed over two nights. Wonderfully complex and racy. 12.5%
March 27, 2020 - Outstanding. 12.5%
December 20, 2019 - Annual Tasting Group Holiday Party (I Nonni, St. Paul, MN): Very tiny taste. Tasted with the '13 Fevre Bougros Cote Bouguerots. Pale green color. Very bright, citrus, lemon, lime, saline, excellent acidity, good focus. This has come together well. I really would've liked to have more of these two, but both were excellent and I think I would give the '13 Bougros the edge slightly. 93-94pts.
