April 18, 2024 - A nose of dark fruits and spices, dark purple in color. A medium to full bodied red, with black cherry, cassis, berries, licorice and spices on finish, was very good. Drink now. www.winelx.com
November 28, 2023 - This is very clearly a "baby Reva." Great bang for the buck IMO. Really enjoyed this wine. Drank with grilled marinated hanger steak.
June 29, 2023 - This stuff is still better than most other winery's syrah. Only difference is you can consume it in one decade!
May 7, 2023 - Aerated with a Vinturi and decanted for one hour. Nose of ripe blackberry, blueberry, bramble, anise and spice. Black and blue fruit, bramble and spice on the palate. Long, fruit forward finish. Full bodied. Served with grilled marinated tuna steak.
March 12, 2023 - Gosh, this is their entry level wine? This is better than most premium Rhone wines made in CA. In a sense, I think it is just a nod to value.
January 9, 2023 - Opened an hour before pairing with seared and oven-finished extra thick bone-in pork chops simply seasoned with olive oil, salt, and pepper. A dark purple in the glass without bricking. Cassis, black cherry, dark plum, underbrush and oak spices on the nose. Surprisingly medium-bodied on the palate. Indeed, this did not stand up to the lightly seasoned pork chops. Perhaps should have been decanted but there were not noticeable tannins. Will pick a Bernard Magrez red next time with this dish.
August 9, 2022 - Beautiful wine. Lovely nose with notes of cherry blossoms. Palate features strong intense fruit upfront but without undue sweetness. Black cherry, dark plum, fresh pine, graphite form the dense body. Subdued tannins. High alcohol but does not overpower the overall experience.
February 23, 2022 - We got Confit de Canard & the wine did match the food. Very dark color and blueberry notes with grafit ( mineral ) Heavy wine but not sweet and the 15.5 % did not ruin the wine. Respect
February 8, 2022 - This is a great wine with any food
February 4, 2022 - This was awfully tasty. The overall beauty and purity of fruit lets you know that it's the younger sibling of Reva. And even though it is less complex, I think this Patrina is certainly more fruit-forward and comes off as prettier than Reva. Reva has some meaty, minerally, herbaceous notes that, while I personally love, turns off some people to Alban. For those, this Patrina may be more up their alley.
