April 20, 2024 - Decanted one hour. This needs the decant as it’s a pretty powerful Chambolle with still some lingering tannins. Black cherry, tea, herbs and mineral come through. Nicely balanced, good acidity. Mature but nowhere near over the hill. Still edgy and in need of softening a little. No rush to drink this.

February 22, 2024 - Popped and poured. Medium to full bodied. This remains tight and a little tannic. Would have benefitted from a decant. Red cherry, black tea, herbs and forest floor. Developing some nuance. Will time open this wine up more?

January 26, 2024 - Best bottle of this I've had in quite a while. I wonder how many 2002s are still getting better at this point? This almost certainly is. We used to see her periodically and she'd be a little appalled when I told her I was drinking these 10 years ago. Limpid red and accessible out of the gate. More primary red fruit than secondary aromatics. Would not guess this to be 22 years old. One of the nice aspects of 2002 is that many of them have nice acidity which gives them a freshness often lacking in bigger vintages. This became a little more tannic later in the evening, which was fine as we had it with a pretty rich black trumpet risotto. I'd guess you could drink this over the next 20 years and choose when based on what you want to experience.

January 14, 2024 - Medium garnet with browning at the edge. Initially very muted but opened up after ~20 minutes in the glass. Medium nose of dried violet, dried red cherry and red plum, cinnamon, brown sugar, black tea, forest floor, and leather. Medium acidity, medium grippy tannins, and medium finish. Good complexity, but the structure seemed to be sticking out more than what’s left of the fruit, and I am not sure if it will come around. Maybe past its peak already?

    September 24, 2023 - 1 of 2, cork c70% soaked (even). Purchased from TWS April 2005 - £40.
Pale/med garnet core, pale garnet rim. Nose shows pure strawberry fruit, black tea, touch of soil and game. Medium bodied, pure red fruit, black tea again, touch of mineral, with refined, resolved tannins - this is cool, elgeant and composed, fresh acids carry a good length, seamless finish with notes of game and a hint of white pepper. Excellent, drinking well but absolutely no hurry.

April 23, 2023 - DR Wines description is far better than I can write. All I can say is that is a classic example of how burg has become overpriced. Very nice and drinkable but not worth current pricing in fact miles off. Drink the newer vintages which are a lot better

April 19, 2023 - Opened 4 hours beforehand. Light ruby with fading. Wafting scent of strawberries and undergrowth. Medium to lighter weight. Fluid, pure, naturally sweet red fruits, perfectly weighted acidity, a bit of bitter chocolate, and light tannin. Seductive in the style of the commune and the year. At peak. Lovely wine.

November 18, 2022 - Slow O for two hours. Great nose after the first hour, but the palate never matched the nose. Like my last bottle in 2019, this was pretty tannic. I wonder if this might have been a little overextracted given the delicate fruit in 2002?

March 3, 2022 - Transparent and tasty. Medium bodied and ready to go. Rose petals on the nose with great balance and a long linear finish. Cinnamon and sub bois on the palate. Great pairing with roasted chicken.
