January 23, 2021 - Not quite as thrilling as a bottle from ~3 years ago. Burgundian stylings with a rock candy element to the cherry fruit that was a clear new world marker. Otherwise excellent developed spice and earthen qualities add nuance. Impeccably balanced and drinking so well. Plenty of life ahead.

April 21, 2018 - Legends of the Spring 2018 (Portland, Oregon house of TW and AW): A less than stellar year in Oregon, paradoxically this wine knocking it out of the park! Medium red with dried strawberries and rose petal palate, expanding like the oft talked about Peacock tail on the back end, delivering a smattering of Pecan wood shavings up the nose. A wow wine in Spades!! (now-2037)

August 1, 2017 - Dinner at TDS (Chicago, IL): A seriously wow Pinot. The nose is endless with layers of dried and fresh fruit across the black and red cherry spectrum made complex by truffle, underbrush and dried herb notes. Texturally beguiling with power in an ethereal frame. The fruit is still fresh and lithe across the palate. Layers of flavor, accented by baking spice in the finish. So, so good. A testament to classic winemaking and good dirt.

August 1, 2017 - Dinner at Table, Donkey and Stick (Chicago, IL): Goodness. This is incredible pinot noir. The nose has a light touch of red fruit, in very good balance with some Vosne-like (I know, I know) five-spice powder. There's earthiness here, but none of the mulchy, rotten, or mushroomy aromas you might find in some dirtier Burgundies. This is clean as a whistle (which, in all honest, I quite like). The palate is very similar to the nose, if a little less complex and full. There's lovely sweet fruit here, as well as very well-balanced acids.

November 20, 2014 - Good but not great and in line-up of 94 & 01 Thomas. Characteristic Thomas nose but the 96 was bit more faded and less interesting of the three.
