Community Tasting Notes 3

January 29, 2016 - Same as my previous note. Stewed jalapeno galore.

January 7, 2016 - Blend of Sauv Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. I pick up the Sauvignon Blanc (acidity, green pepper and esp. jalapeno) and Chard (esp. the mouthfeel) on both the nose and palate - struggle more to smell/taste the Pinot Gris. Very unusual and funky wine (to me), on both the nose and palate. Initially found it off-putting, but it (somewhat) grew on me - probably as the wine warmed up, as it was initially too cold. Mix of acidity, bitterness, minerality, citrus (lemon) and plenty of jalapenos, but with a mouthfeel that is rich and resinous (not crisp, not lean, which is what the Sauv Blanc notes led me to expect). I wish I had tasted along some good cheese. I could see that pairing working well. Overall, a puzzling wine.

    November 13, 2015 - Blind @work
    Alcohol - ~12.5%
    slight RS - ~10g/L
    oxidative
    stewed pickled jalapenos - pyrazines.
    Slight bitterness.

    Guess: ?????

    -----

Actually: blend of Sauv blanc (hence the pyrazines), Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris (hence the phenolic bitterness) from Cheverny.

    Medium body
    Medium plus acid
    slight phenolic bitterness.
    Medium alcohol - ~12.5% (actually 12.5%)

    Pretty weird.
