November 22, 2023 - Still humming. Very soft cork, totally broke apart but there was no seepage along the cork or in the capsule. Wine opened with muted nose and tightly wound tannins that relaxed over 30 minutes. Black currents and black cherries are forward in a mix of spice and deep tannins. Not robust but not shy. Showing age. Drink 'em if you still have 'em.

May 5, 2018 - Alex's Birthday Party (Yan's China Bistro, Walnut Creek, Ca.): Nose from this magnum of black cherry, black berry, and black currants, same on the palate, medium body, fruit forward, touch simple, tasty, mouth filling fruit, at its best so drink now-suggest you don't wait-even in this magnum format, and medium finish.

May 29, 2016 - Deep red color. Aromas of blackcurrants, licorice and wood spices. Ripe, silky fruit in the mouth with very good depth and length. Nicely integrated and suave on the palate. A fine effort for the 2000 vintage at 16 years of age, this wine definitely benefitted from being purchased on release and formatted in magnum. Time to drink up!

March 9, 2014 - This wine still has some live in it, but should be drunk soon. Lots of fruit still evident, but very smooth tannins, just a touch of oak. Wonderful nose of berrys and cassis with a touch of cedar.
