Community Tasting Notes 3

March 14, 2017 - PnP, but improved over the next 30 minutes, so short decant is advised. An interesting blend of grenache, syrah & zin. The palate was heavy with earth, underbrush and dark red fruits, plus a dose of herbs. All was offset by sufficient acidity to balance. Should hold for another couple of years.

January 11, 2016 - Good for the price. Needs 15 minutes of air to improve.

December 27, 2015 - Got my fall mixed case from Scherrer and had included two of his 2011 "Huntsman" red blend. This is a new wine for Fred, a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Zin. The nose and the initial hit on the tongue had a somewhat herbal note but that quickly gave way to bing cherry, cranberry and rhubarb with some mouthwatering acidity. Since I've got a bit of a head cold going on, I'm saving my other bottle for a time when my gustatory and olfactory senses are firing on all cylinders.
