October 13, 2019 - Fantastic Shiraz here, drank over 3 night, very well balanced and not overcooked or extracted. Oak handling is spot on and showcases the amazing fruit in the wine. Velvety tannins, hint of fennel under the spicy plummy dark fruit. I would say on the cusp of full bodied but has a rare restraint and elegance to it. Good acid, alcohol also appears in check. No doubt that this has a lot of life left but great to try it while it is still quite youthful.

December 27, 2017 - Adelaide Winery Post-Christmas Trip (Day 2 - McLaren Vale) (Adelaide, South Australia, Australia): Clear deep ruby with tears.

Clean, developing nose with a medium intensity. There are complex aromas of black plum, blackcurrant, cloves, dark chocolate, and black pepper. Swirling reveals a distinct crème de cassis note and subtle leather.

The wine is dry with medium acidity, high alcohol, and full body. The medium(+) level tannins are silky but have a bold mouth-feel. The flavours have a medium intensity and follow the nose with notes of black plum, crème de cassis, cloves, dark chocolate, black pepper, and leather. The finish has a long length.

This is a very good quality wine. The flavours are concentrated and have an amazing balance with the acidity and the alcohol. The tannins work very well with the structure of the wine, capturing some slight warmth from the delicate alcohol on the finish. The oak treatment is well-integrated, supporting the fruit flavours. The long finish is very enjoyable. The wine presents primary and secondary characteristics, and is starting to develop tertiary notes that will further improve with time.

This wine drinks well now, but is suitable for further ageing.

October 26, 2017 - A stupendous McLaren Vale Shiraz, oozing confidence and intensity and very much a sense of place. Wild fermented, minimal intervention wine, with scary levels of tension and contained explosiveness. Made in very small quantities, this is truly the labour of love, and it will be fascinating to follow it evolution over the next 20 years. Fantastic.

January 30, 2017 - Is the fruit in South Australia perfect or something? Because rare are those bottles which are not worth mentioning. Just 35 km from Adelaide, McLaren Vale is by far one of the most important and oldest wine-producing regions in Australia. This Shiraz shows you why. Impenetrable black colour in the glass and an exciting nose which immediately reminded me of Negroamaro – tones of eucalyptus, mint and sweet black fruit. Dry with highlighted tannins and fruit concentration. HUGE structure going deep into the abyss of mind-boggling chewiness. No trace of flabbiness or sharp edges. An outstanding Aussie.
