February 6, 2017 - Medium dark, lively. Plum and some herbal notes. Needed time to sort out acid/tannin balance that cut short the fruit. Medium plus weight. Merlot dominance never really showed over Cab Franc but perhaps Waiheke fruit expresses itself differently. Some promise in the finish. Tasted with venison tenderloin and lamb cutlets, braised shank, and sweetbreads. I'm guessing would benefit from 2-5 years cellaring. 88+

December 5, 2016 - A blend of 46% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 19% Malbec, and 5% each Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon
medium red. dark plum, cassis, well mellowed with oak flavours. fine grained tannins, fresh acidity, a little violet and mocha. very clean palate, alcohol warm and dry in finish.
a beautiful and smooth waiheke island blend. BC 89, RC 18.0+, MC 4 stars.
