January 23, 2022 - I was pleasantly surprised with this wine. It requires a long decant to present its beautiful floral aromas. On the nose, black pepper, cedar, and dried strawberry, which evolved into tobacco and cedar on the palate. There was oak here (vanilla starts to shine as it evolves in the mouth). There’s a long finish where a dried strawberry and berry flavor persists. Mid + alcohol and mid acidity. Drink now after decanting.

December 30, 2021 - Off bottle. Fruit was flat, dominated by acidity. Disappointing. I hope my next bottle is better.

December 28, 2021 - Ugh, see my 3/25/21 comments.....sadly this bottle was a dud. Flat, fruit on vacation (probably moved out for good). I have never witnessed bottle variation to this extent. If I didn't know better, I would swear that some of the bottles were fake....but I don't know how that could be possible. Worst bottle yet

    December 12, 2021 - À l'ouverture, encore beaucoup trop de jeunesse.
Bouteille commencée à être bue 5h après son débouchage (non carafée), ça lui a fait un bien énorme.

December 10, 2021 - Popped and poured. Dark red with a bloody rim. Very deep, dark red fruit in the nose, with iron and iodine hints. Dark chocolate and earth. In the mouth, surprisingly crisp with plenty of acid for extended aging. Big, substantial in the mouth with much tannin still evident. Still has the stuffing for another 22 years of aging, but at least approachable, if seemingly on the young side at 22 years, LOL. 5-12-16-9: 92/100.

(Pontet Canet) Beautiful precision and elegance. Reminded me of a baby '00 LLC. Laser-like focus and sweet cassis licoricey fruit. Lots of mineral and cigar box on the nose with very sweet fruit and ripe tannins. Like an undualting wavelength though opening and closing every five minutes . . . but man what fruit. Tremendous juice.

(Pontet Canet) This showed well but not as well as it could. Maybe this was closing down. Classic Pauillac nose of tar, leather, tobacco and a melange of red and black fruits. Even some sweet corn after five minutes in the glass. Dense and delineated with ripe, fat, silky fruit. Very finesse. Fruit takes over your mouth. Good inner mouth aromas and great length.
