March 26, 2023 - Taste from a magnum while milling about at a party. Like all the the 2000 Bordeaux this is drinking splendidly now with integrated, smooth tannins while retaining plenty of acidity to keep it fresh. That said, I did find it rather less developed compared to some other same vintage wines such as the lynch bages. Perhaps because this was a magnum, but the tertiary leather and farm funk that can be enjoyable in aged Bordeaux’s (to an extent) was missing. But to be clear, I’d happily drink this again anytime.

March 17, 2023 - Good deep ruby color with hints of faint brown at the edges. Very aromatic with a heavy emphasis on cedar. A bit ungainly but pleasant. Better a day later with more essence of deep black fruit including cassis and plums. This is drinking well now and at a 20 year plateau. It will continue to age but it may not improve much from this current level.

March 14, 2023 - Plump and plush, savoury, rich and vibrant, there was dark plummy fruit underpinned with melting tannins. There was a faint whiff of Brett but this was kept well in check. Multi-dimensional and vibrant. CHP 95 pts

March 14, 2023 - This really needs a good few hours in the decanter to mellow out. Nearly 18 months since my lasting tasting, and I am still conflicted to whether this is an early average drinker, or will it develop into a gem with time. The nose shows chocolate, blackcurrant, and tobacco, and is very appealing. The tannin unfortunately is enamel stripping end palate and finish, albeit well balanced and with good depth. Is this a wine to cut your losses and sell, or will secondary notes develop an integrated palate and finish. Only time will tell.

4/30/2005 (link)(Pontet Canet) Beautiful precision and elegance. Reminded me of a baby '00 LLC. Laser-like focus and sweet cassis licoricey fruit. Lots of mineral and cigar box on the nose with very sweet fruit and ripe tannins. Like an undualting wavelength though opening and closing every five minutes . . . but man what fruit. Tremendous juice.

10/4/2004 (link)(Pontet Canet) This showed well but not as well as it could. Maybe this was closing down. Classic Pauillac nose of tar, leather, tobacco and a melange of red and black fruits. Even some sweet corn after five minutes in the glass. Dense and delineated with ripe, fat, silky fruit. Very finesse. Fruit takes over your mouth. Good inner mouth aromas and great length.
