    October 19, 2019 - Decanted for 4 hours.
Dark colour, hints of black in the glass.
Coming to age, but will hold for a few more years.
The nose is a typical Pauillac, intense, impressive and full of promise.
The wine is complex, notes of coffee, black currant chocolate and cigar smoke.
Very long finish, extremely well balanced.

September 15, 2019 - Still a deep dark crimson but signs of a little age around the rim of the glass. Nose is a little reticent, dare I say even fumey? But some dried herbs and hints of roast meat notes come through with a whiff of fruit still there. Palate is tight and dry and holding back for years to come. The finish is super long.

In conclusion, it’s still to early to drink - I think another 7 years and we might start to see this as a fully mature wine.

September 14, 2019 - Killer wine with plenty of stuffing. Graphite, black currants, inky, truffles...yum! Fabulous nose, it was starting to sing at the three hour mark.

September 7, 2019 - Tasted blind. Textbook left bank Bordeaux. Graphite, ink, blackcurrant. Lovely balance here. Fine tannins and acidity, nice fat midpalate. Starting its drinking window (opened 4 hours before drinking).

(Chateau Pontet-Canet Pauillac) Fabulous nose here, big and smoky, roasted confit fruit, dark and gritty-grainy in character. Wonderful style. Roast coffee grounds, dark in style. Fine fleshy sweetness on entry, but not over-the-top, not a sweet, confit note in sight. There is a firm and polished texture to it, a savoury character, with lots of tannic substance although it does not show through past the texture and fruit on the palate, only on the finish when there is a flourish of grippy tannin coating the mouth. There is a firm, grainy character which sits very well with the rest of the wine. Brimming with potential here, but needs another five years at the bare minimum, and I am sure it will be much better at ten.

(Pontet Canet) Beautiful precision and elegance. Reminded me of a baby '00 LLC. Laser-like focus and sweet cassis licoricey fruit. Lots of mineral and cigar box on the nose with very sweet fruit and ripe tannins. Like an undualting wavelength though opening and closing every five minutes . . . but man what fruit. Tremendous juice.

(Pontet Canet) This showed well but not as well as it could. Maybe this was closing down. Classic Pauillac nose of tar, leather, tobacco and a melange of red and black fruits. Even some sweet corn after five minutes in the glass. Dense and delineated with ripe, fat, silky fruit. Very finesse. Fruit takes over your mouth. Good inner mouth aromas and great length.
