February 6, 2020 - When this was priced at retail to clear the restaurants cellar to make way for a new wine menu, you take all the bottles you can. OMG! Perfectly soft tannins, cigar box and licorice with dark dried fruit. It took 30mins in the glass to open up. This is classic aged left bank. Couldn't believe our luck at £100 a bottle we took all 4 remaining bottles

February 1, 2020 - I've been waiting to pop this one open but I've admittedly been very skeptical about the timing after reading all these reviews. I drank this tonight with some Green Egg grilled ribeyes and it was great. But. It's not ready and I'm not sure how much better it will get. I get the sense this wine has a short drink window for optimal show.

C: Ruby with slight tawny hues. The color alone tells you it's still got some time.

N: Underripe red and black fruit, pencil shavings, sweet tobacco and leather

P: Still has some fruity tones but it seems like underripened black fruit, graphite, sweet tobacco; medium plus acidity, medium alcohol.

F: Medium long finish of acidic black fruit and tobacco

I'm just a bit confused by this wine. It's either past its prime or it needs another 5 years or more. Something just seems out of balance and while it was enjoyable and paired well with the steaks, something was just.....off. It's like it's trying desperately to come together but just can't quite get there.

Great experience but won't seek out another bottle considering the gamble with the cost that this could still get better.

January 29, 2020 - Still in a somewhat dormant state, but all will be well in about five to ten years. Patience!

December 29, 2019 - Mature dusty brown rim. Ruby red fruit in the nose. After two hour decant, soft mature tannins, flat middle palate, sweet finish. Enjoyable, although I wanted more from the wine.

(Calon-Segur) This showed not so great. Nose of redcurrants, peppercorns and stones. Not too expressive. Ripe, juicy and bright with some nice dense fruit and dark berr flavors. Huge tannins but sneaky length indicates greatness in the future but not today.
