October 11, 2019 - Brett-marred, in stark contrast to a bottle I enjoyed at a different restaurant several months ago.

August 27, 2019 - Tasted blind - Young juicy/ bloody red plums and rustic soil, which instantly reminds me of Chateau Montrose. Good freshness combined with soft tannins, lovely merlot fruits with good Cabernet Sauvignon backbone. Hints of gravely pencil lead. Lovely spices, and structure. St Estephe/ Pauillac, 2001? (90-91/100)

August 26, 2019 - This was once again deep in the upper eschelons of the St. Estephe hierarchy, still below Cos and Montrose, but always so well made and terroir perfect. I would hold these for two more years, as the fine stiff backbone yielded still a bit more tannic acid and less warmth than I usually encounter with these wonderful Calon wines. Deep dark smoke forest and cherry, forest floor with plenty of moist earth, and a hint of mint,

August 21, 2019 - Pepper initially, then some berry halfway through. After a 1 hr decant, this had a horrible imbalance of acid, and the tannins were imperceptible. After 2 hrs it slightly improved, but I was about to write it off. After 3 hrs, it finally opened up and came together somewhat. I plan to hold my remaining bottles another couple years.

July 27, 2019 - Praelum - Les Alcooliques (Praelum Wine Bistro): A very strong peppery hit up front, and reveals a concentrated mid-palate of blackberry, fern, and cassis. Would call this a pretty good and classic St Estephe, but not more than that. Apparently, that wine label makes it a firm hit with the hopelessly romantic

(Calon-Segur) This showed not so great. Nose of redcurrants, peppercorns and stones. Not too expressive. Ripe, juicy and bright with some nice dense fruit and dark berr flavors. Huge tannins but sneaky length indicates greatness in the future but not today.
