September 2, 2020 - Crazy! 5 years old and still going strong.
July 3, 2019 - Surprisingly still alive
July 18, 2017 - I wondered if I was a little late to the party on this nouveau, but it was still pretty good. Bubble gum, tart cherry, cranberry, a bit of bitterness on the finish. A surprising amount of funk/barnyard on this. I'd drink it again for sure...good summer wine in Phoenix. Drink up, obviously.
August 7, 2016 - Rather good acctually. Fresh, nice berries and light-medium accidity. 6 months on bottle have made some good difference.
May 31, 2016 - Corked
April 16, 2016 - The Progress with friends (The Progress, SF): Fresh, with slight earth.
Medium plus acid, decent structure - a touch of tannins.
February 28, 2016 - Tasty and fresh as one would expect from a Nouveau. Very classy.
February 8, 2016 - Monday night blinds (Home (Noe st)): (blind)
Moderate minus ruby (no rim variation).
Crazy funky carbonic nose. Red fruit-cherry. Also reductive and slightly bacterial. Super sweet and slightly oxidative with sweet jammy oxidative aromas.
Medium plus body. Elevated alcohol - 13.5%? (actually 12.5% - a bit surprising), elevated acid, diminished tannins. Slight bitterness on the end.
Carbonic + Earth + structure:
Cru Beaujolais
Pinot - Burgundy - too carbonic.
Pinot - OR - too dirty.
Final:
Beaujolais, Morgon or Moulin-A-Vent. Dirty, but no real development: 2014.
Semi-carbonic whole cluster fermentation with no sulfur until bottling.
12.5%
Foillard Jean, Beaujolais Nouveau 2015.
40-60 year old vines, near Morgon, sandy soil (the higher level bottlings are typically sandstone, schist, granite).
January 22, 2016 - Clear light ruby color. Aromas and flavor notes of fresh bing cherry, tropical fruit, minerality and spice. Primary, with some surprising secondary depth for a BN. Nice acid, light tannins to give some presence. Very nice.
January 5, 2016 - This is one of the better Beaujolais Nouveau I have tasted (as you'd expect from Foillard). Much lighter in hue than many of them (and not purple at all), it sports light, bright, crunch and lithe red-fruit flavors with mild spice. It also had a slight spritz to it for the first half an hour of being open, but this dissipated. It paired well with Magret de Canard and sautéed potatoes, but was also a nice apéritif. I have a glass left to try tonight and am looking forward to it.
