September 10, 2021 - Jason's 2005 Bordeaux at Noizé: By the time we got to the pauillacs my palate was tired, to say the least. This, though, was lovely - albeit definitely still holding most of its pleasure in reserve. If you have some of these - hold on for a while longer.
September 9, 2021 - Jason's 2005 dinner (Noize): I last had this a couple of years ago, and although I took no notes that evening I remember it showing more authoritatively and exuberantly than it did tonight. Nevertheless, still plenty to enjoy, with its airy, leafy nose, deep, slightly gamey palate, and hint of grassiness. At the beginning of its window but will probably be more interesting in time.
September 9, 2021 - 2005 Bordeaux (Noizé, London): Nice blackcurrant leaf nose. Calm and classical. Blackcurrant fruit on the palate. If this was a musician it would be playing slightly flat currently. Needs time to tuneup. Similar feels to a bottle tasted in 2010. Currently on the dry side. **(*1/2)
July 20, 2021 - Classic Bordeaux. Drinking well
June 13, 2021 - Very clean closure. Dark inky ruby in colour despite its 16 years. An austere nose - reticent black fruit with a distinct graphite. Generally cassis on the palate with quite dominant soft grained tannins. As with all the 05’s the steely backbone is a given - one just hopes the fruit holds up long enough to see the tannins to a harmonious resolution.
May 9, 2021 - Surprisingly forward for the vintage. Soft, fine tannins but I was expecting more from this. Medium length, not much in the way of classic Pauillac notes coming through. Fruit felt a bit subdued for both the vintage and appellation. Cant see it getting any better and I don’t see this becoming a long lived wine. Drink over the next few years
April 23, 2021 - Very acceptable claret. Nose OK, dark fruit. the palate was firm and went with the roast pigeon well. Well rounded tannins and dark fruit. Medium length taste
April 10, 2021 - Very soft tannins, drink now. Very good but could had offered more...
April 4, 2021 - Didn’t take note but this is everything you hope a Pauillac will be, and at a really good place in its evolution. Perfect with Easter slow roast hogget.
March 29, 2021 - This is drinking well. Colour red, nose red current, palate cherry dark fruit, really enjoyable
