March 10, 2024 - Still young and fruity (black fruit) Wine developed better after the bottle opened. Good tannines.

February 4, 2024 - I think it's fair to see 2005 as one of the milestones of modern Beychevelle, reaching a level of quality not seen since the better vintages of the 1980s and perhaps not since the 1960s. This isn't fully ready to go yet and will require a few more years to integrate its oak, but there's plenty of appeal in the boysenberry, blueberry compote, black licorice-filled nose, particularly after an hour in the decanter when it's accompanied by a pleasant wildflower element. The tannin is already pretty civilized and the Merlot imparts a round, fullish presence in the mouth.

47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot brought in between September 21 and October 6 at 42hl/ha.

January 1, 2024 - Decanted for 75 min. First sip was thinner than I expected but then got complex but not overpowering flavors. Paired wonderfully with a mustard crusted pork.

September 24, 2023 - This is the last bottle and it left in style. Good color, solid core of fruit, cinnamon, and earth held together with supple tannins.
