September 24, 2023 - Double Decanted three hours before drinking. Still opened up over the course of the evening. Tasted as part of a 2005 horizontal with Cos D’estournel and Montrose. This Margaux was lovely - lots of life left in it, so no rush to drink. But it opened up nicely. Smooth and elegant, yet “bigger” than I would have expected. Paired beautifully with the grilled steaks and roasted eggplant.

May 7, 2023 - Noticed the cranberry and cherry thing again as per my previous note. I think it is in a good stage in its evolution but there is nothing thrilling about this wine IMHO.

October 11, 2022 - Much better than my previous tasting, ago, now you find a round, concentrated, blackberry, black currant, and black cherry-filled wine with nuances of green, leafy herbs, forest floor, tobacco leaf, and spice box notes in the finish. Drink from 2022-2040.

March 2, 2022 - Evidently Margaux, being rather delicate rather red-fruit driven - cherry and cranberry and raspberry straps - but without the supposedly distinctive perfume. I find the acid a bit bristling, for the time being at least.

January 7, 2022 - PnP from a 375. Cork crumbled into a million brittle little pieces so took time to extract the wine. This bottle was not very interesting initially but turned into something respectable.

Very dark garnet. Nose not showing much. Some dark spice. Palate gives away roasted coffee, fading fruit, but a more exuberant finish than the mid-palate which is a bit lazy. Still has enough structure for some textural interest but thought this was a half-dead bottle on first inspection.

But, it did improve with air and some hours passing by. Probably peaked at the 90 - 120 minute mark.
