September 5, 2020 - Into a flat bottom decanter for 3 hours and it remained tight and not very giving over 5-6 hours of drinking in the glass. Aromas of old leather, same on palate. Oak and fruit need to integrate more. Tannins still noticeable and quite drying. Enjoyable but will be much better in a few years. Revisit 3-5 years.

    July 4, 2020 - 67PM tasting with Jane Anson
    first experience of Giscours
Spice and heat on nose with black fruits, so different to more floral Margaux's. Carried through to palate. Melting tannins. Very drinkable.

July 4, 2020 - Another proof that 2005 was a great vintage! Great classic Bordeaux!

April 27, 2020 - The most famous Bordeaux village of Margaux, with Jane Anson (Zoom!): 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot 8% Cabernet Franc. Some maturity evident from looking at it. Lots of fruit and spice on the nose. Lovely chew and spice on the palate. Big tannins, lots of concentration. Some toffee oak on the finish. Gorgeous and persistent flavour in the mouth. Could do with another few years IMO. Very nice wine.

    Consistent notes
Fruit Black current Cassis Kirchberry Even some Strawberry
The oak is prominent But not disturbing
15 years old and the tertiery notes are still waiting to come around
You can sense them But that is it

(Château Giscours) Dark red violet color; cassis and slightly herbal nose; very tannic, quite obscuring the fruit; medium-plus finish

(Chateau Giscours Margaux) There is just the faintest edge of feral character here, along with dense berry fruit and still a firm presence of oak. It has a rather hard and serious structure on the palate, with sooty tannins offering a lot of drying grip, with a nice acid presence too. The tannins stand out a little from the gentle, lightly creamy texture, and my only concern is that the former may outlast the latter. Nevertheless the potential is here.

(Chateau Giscours Margaux) CS 62%, M38%. A very deep colour here, leading out to a purple-black rim. Dense and concentrated nose, very evocative, with aromas of black fruits, white flower petals, tar and minerals. Very pure. Full, glorious palate, very complete, with a slightly soft texture. Ripe, full, firm tannins, with plenty of fat and fresh acidity. There is evident structure here, but the palate is also packed with flavour, whilst remaining quintessentially Margaux. Excellent.
