August 10, 2019 - Pencils, blueberry and red currants, subtle oak. Has developed beautifully the last ten years. Classic left bank.

July 13, 2019 - Based on my last TN for this wine, I decanted it for about 30 minutes and the evolution was significant. Initially, the nose showed some dark red fruit and cedar. After decanting, the dark red fruits increased and came to the fore, and the cedar receded. On the palate the wine was medium to plus bodied, with lots of dark red fruits, some earth, a bit of cedar and spice, balancing acidity, and only a touch of drying tannins.
The 2005 vintage is turning out to be truly wonderful, even with wines of a lesser pedigree, such as this Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel from Saint-Estephe. The blend here is 58% Cab. Sauv, 36% Merlot and 6% Cab. Franc. This wine can hold for several more years.

May 20, 2019 - Opened bottle 5 hours before dinner. Did not decant. Nice level of tannins, still there. Long finish. Fine St. Estephe. Right in its drinking window.
