February 16, 2020 - Une autre excellente bouteille de ce vin, en pleine forme voire encore jeune. Il commence à peine son plateau de maturité.

January 13, 2020 - Tasted blind. Evidently claret. Served quite cold, but the chalky minerality was striking, as well as the ripe but rich Merlot fruit. I was convinced that this was a high quality wine from the Côtes in Saint-Emilion. I stand by my analysis, but the conclusion was slightly off...

January 3, 2020 - Deep garnet with a hint of aging brown at the rim, but only marginal. Amazing colour for a wine of 15 years of age. Nose still on primary fruit, mostly blackcurrant and blueberries, complemented by a hint of secondary aromas of almonds(!), vanilla and dry wood. After a while in the glass, some tertiary aromas of tobacco emerges. Full bodied attack, smooth tannins, sweet blackcurrant fruit, and a very nice acidity to match. Long and fresh aftertaste dominated by black forest berries (blueberries. blackberries) and blackcurrant. For a non-classified Bordeaux this is just short of amazing quality. Still in its primary phase, probably optimal to drink now for those appreciating primary fruit combined with hints of maturing. For lovers of old B, this should be aged 5 years more, and will drink perfectly for a couple of decades after that. Extreme quality/price.

December 12, 2019 - I liked this a lot and it has profited from the years in bottle. Some nice and mature notes...

December 11, 2019 - Nice wine. But missing complexity and finesse. Almost boring.

(Chateau Sociando-Mallet Haut-Médoc) A very dark wine, with a very expressive nose, full of pure dark fruits with a predominant cassis character, very nicely defined, with notes of toasty oak, yet to integrate, in the background. Lovely. Pure, well defined, elegance too though. Beautifully balanced, well delineated structure, very nicely textured. Just perfectly composed. What wonderful finesse. Even better than I recall from my tasting in April 2005.

(Chateau Sociando-Mallet Haut-Médoc) CS 55%, M 40%, CF 5%. Dark, moderately intense wine, with a blue-purple rim. Attractive presence of dark fruits on the nose, with good depth and interest. Very soft and textured on the palate, and nicely ripe. Clearly delineated fruit, very well proportioned wine. Firm structure, balanced, and a grippy finish. This is very good wine, with more potential than you might expect.
