September 30, 2019 - Popped and poured from split. This is a solid red wine with some modest chunky sediment at the end. The nose is great — I get main notes of tobacco, forest, and granite. It’s a bit rustic yet in the mouth, with medium red fruit extending into a bit of a tannic overhang. Overall, this is a nice, old-school BDX, one that is moving along the track apace. 91 points.

September 21, 2019 - I served this with roast chicken and carrots and broccoli and roast potatoes! Very old fashioned but the great thing a out the Ch Talbot was that the lovely aged flavours of pencil sharpening and tobacco along with all the cassis and vanilla complemented the meat and gravy. So all together lovely. Would suggest drinking this over the next couple of years as it is not going to get too much better.

July 13, 2019 - A little disappointed in this wine. I found The 2005 to be flat with a very simple complexity. I decanted this wine for 45 minutes and as the night went on the wine was losing it aroma and fruits and had a silky mouth feel without much flavor. I feel the drink window on this wine is much shorter then what they project. Pricing of this wine is around $70 to 80 dollar in my estimation is high. Maybe the younger vintages will have more of a pop.

June 30, 2019 - Opened for an hour before serving. Fruit is dried and tired. Fine and few tannins. Black fruit flavors with a good dose of anise. It's a pretty wine now and still tasty but I'm drinking it up before the fruit fades any further.

April 7, 2019 - Quite smooth and open bouquet with some tobacco leaves, cassis and a little burned rubber.
On the palate it’s rather sweet and not overly complex. Considering the vintage, i guess there are better values out there.
I guess it will easily stay at this level for another 5-10 years, but i don’t see any further development.

(Chateau Talbot St Julien) Nice, maturing character on the nose here, autumn leaves, undergrowth, tea leaf, along with a layer of red fruits still with an overt freshness to them. On the palate a very soft texture at first, then a more polished and stony but still generous substance in the palate. Firm, elegant, well composed wine, not fat or overly fleshy, but with enough substance to cover the tannins. Some harmony here. Very good.

(Château Talbot) Dark red violet color; herbal, tobacco nose; tobacco and black fruit with a strong herbal quality; medium finish

(Chateau Talbot St Julien) This has a delightful character on the nose, showing ripe and open cherry and cranberry fruit, and still a presence of oak which is of course to be expected. Rather cool and stylish at the start, fleshing out on the midpalate, but it remains restrained and balanced throughout. Creamy, rounded, but not a huge intensity unlike some wines of the commune in this vintage. But it has lovely sweet fruit, sitting over ripe tannins; it is a success for the estate, and buyers are likely to be pleased.

(Chateau Talbot St Julien) Quite an evocative style apparent on the nose, with aromatic and rather well concentrated redcurrant and cranberry fruit on the nose. It is perhaps lighter in impact than some of its peers, perhaps not so concentrated, and it has a slightly charcoaly character to the tannins, although they are very well covered by fruit. Rather soft and broad on the finish. A very good wine, although a little outshone within the context of the commune.
