June 11, 2022 - Enjoyed over two nights. First pour (Coravined) decanted over an hour. Nice dark fruits and plum notes, but a little past ripe. Low acidity and almost no red fruits left. A hint of chocolate left(last bottled enjoyed 2 years ago and was more prevent). Second night (pulled cork after resting 24hrs after coravining in cellar) this wine was dead. Enjoyed next to Venge Family Reserve 2014 and Duckhorn The Discussion 2013. Of all the Cakebread wines Ive had, 2013 is definitely not the vintage where they shine. The 07-10’s right now are breathtaking. Some of the 12’s and 14-15’s are also showing well. The Vine Hill Ranch from this and mist other vintages is a better bet at this point.

January 14, 2022 - Clear deep black cherry/garnet; clean medium plus velvety nose of coffee, cocoa, cassis, blueberry jam, leather and moist soil; dry; high acidity; high tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; medium plus flavour intensity; palate almost has fruit payoff with blueberry/cherry and coffee/cocoa notes; long finish; drink now or in 5 years; delicious wine - plush Cali style but serious and grown-up

November 12, 2021 - I am typically a huge fan of Cakebread wines. The Dancing Bear Ranch is among one of my favorite Napa cabs, that I typically enjoy annually for Christmas. I had higher hopes for this Benchland Select. I did not decant, as I usually do not feel the need for a Napa wine at this age, I feel like it should be fairly approachable immediately upon opening, which is was. The nose on this is fantastic, earth, spice, leather, oak, subtle dark fruits. And even the initial palate was enjoyable. The problem is, the wine quickly fell a part in the glass. Drank over about 2.5 hours and did not improve with time. Slightly one dimensional, and not very layered. The finish was a bit harsh with the tannins not very integrated. I've had this bottle cellared upon release, and purchased from the winery. Maybe it's just not in a good drinking window? Don't get me wrong, this is still a good wine, I just expected more for the price point and producer.

November 5, 2021 - Excellent wine that is drinking well. Improved and opened up after 15 minutes in the glass. Full bodied, medium tannins with a long finish

August 29, 2021 - Basically undrinkable. Funk to start. Didn’t think corked. That blew off but it never got anywhere.
