December 9, 2021 - This was drinking great last night. 2-3 hour decant. This was lovely and old school. It had great balance of fruit and spice. At one point in the night, it tasted strongly of eucalyptus (in a great way). The acid was still there to give it lift. I kept going back for more and ended up drinking far more than I thought I would. As others have said, this is probably at peak, but I don't think it's declining any time soon.

I'm a big Laurel Glen fan and pick up the old vintages any time I find them. This one really reminded me why I love their wines.

October 18, 2020 - Zingy black currant and boysenberry fruit with mint and chocolate. Drinks well, probably at peak but can hold here.

July 9, 2019 - Opaque purple-black speaks to the unavoidable ripeness of the '03 vintage--more color and extraction than typical for LGs, that is. Black currant and blackberry flavors with chocolate notes more like merlot than cabernet. Silky mouthfeel and finish. Best bottle yet of a case--unfortunately, only two left.

April 13, 2019 - Solid - plenty of spice with Black Current, Cherry, Plumb, Earthy and still worth saving for a few years. We have 3 more bottles and will probably open one per year.

February 3, 2019 - Not quite the experience we had in summer 2017 but still very good, and and I'm not convinced this is at peak yet. Consistent with previous notes but noticed a little more heat overall and on the finish than the last bottles. Still, with an hour or two of air, this wine tastes like it is 5 years old, but it still brings a variety of secondary notes and characteristics typical of a mature wine. Very balanced and well-made. Technical score: 94. Enjoyment score: 94.
