March 16, 2024 - PnP. Medium gold. Intense nose of tropical and orchard fruits. On the palate this has excellent depth of flavor with pear, peach, and other stone fruits. Perhaps a bit soft on the finish to balance the intensity of the fruit. Lovely wine though perhaps not at the top of the Marcassins I've had.

December 8, 2023 - Full disclosure: non-blind. And most expensive white I've tasted to date. And note taken on the memory of this pre-Thanksgiving dinner wine.

It was the most balanced chardonnay I've ever tasted. It was a hair less bold than a good Aubert/Kistler Chard (at a quarter the price), a tad more "French" in style, but equally as concentrated. And yet even the most devoted burghound couldn't call it overextracted. Its primary flavors are beginning to give way to secondary and tertiary- lovely. It was even good on day 2.

Might be worth the cost of admission.

To be short (though I've used the word hundreds of times) I think I now know the meaning of "elegant". Bravo! Will drink well thru at least 2030.

December 1, 2023 - Very ripe but now blowsy, tropical, verbena, a little reductive palate touch ABV

August 1, 2023 - Ornellaia Dinner (Stefani Prime - Lincolnwood IL): Opulent but also layered and nicely complex. Nothing reticent here, but it is bright enough to retain balance. Still, I found it more of a wine "cocktail" that was better on its own vs when paired with food. I haven't tasted this wine in 4+ years and I liked it much more tonight vs before.

Tasted 2012 and 2013 together, preferred the palate of 2012. Less expressive on the nose but the palate has a more classic style, not as rich as 2013, the balance is almost there, good but a touch too warm in the finish for my taste though. These are very expensive though.

February 28, 2023 - Had this a year ago. This was a pop and pour at a restaurant and opened up in about 30 min. A full bodied, well balanced wine in its prime. This will continue to hold here for another 2-3 years. A wine worth its mailing list price but not its secondary market price. Revisit 2024

November 19, 2022 - Absolutely delicious fruit and floral notes on the nose and palate with silky smooth texture and oaky notes with juicy acidity culminating in a long evolving finish. Drinking beautifully! Pairs beautifully with shellfish!

October 15, 2022 - For a bottle previously coravin’d. Aromas of lemon oil, butterscotch, mango, papaya and pie crust. Flavors of lemon oil, mango, pineapple, papaya and spice. Ends with a long finish 40+ seconds with tropical fruit and vanilla notes. Not quite as good as last time but still excellent.
