February 5, 2011 - Clear medium garnet with moderate aromas of cherry and stone fruit. Bone dry and strongly tannic, the balance isn't there yet and this needs time. Crisp acidity, flavorus of lemon, apple, leather, and oak. Long finish but a little thin -- need to leave this alone for a couple of years before hitting more bottles.

September 22, 2010 - Fleshing up with a stronger fruit character (or larger if you will) and less acidity than I remember. Tannins remain grippy (med +) with a powerful backbone. If I remember right this guy is better 4 hours in. We shall see.

August 18, 2010 - Evergreen and herbs like a lightly fruited Languedoc Syrah. But the dryness is all Tuscan. Honest. Well worth the effort at $16.

July 21, 2010 - There is a wine in here somewhere, I can just taste it.

So, much better four hours in. Smokey and dark, lots of tannin and grip. Not shy on the finish, very forceful. The acid seems to be there. Hmm... I wonder if this will manage to live on a long time and find more resolution. Right now very punchy, but actually, to my taste, enjoyably so. I imagine most non-Italian drinkers will find it to assertive in its tannin.

Reminds me more and more of a brunello.

July 4, 2010 - Light to medium bodied. Bright red cherry fruit flavours with tannic finish. Good acidity; good with food. Decent interesting wine.

September 3, 2009 - Dark fruit in the dusty sangiovese way. Darker fruit here than I am used to tasting from Sangioveses, which is from the 20% cab, 20% merlot in the bottle. Again, a slight strand of medicinal character showing off that it is indeed made by selvapiana. Lasting vinious acidity. With charm.
