March 18, 2024 - Elegant, youthful, but showing some tertiary notes from its age. Carbonic with a hint of savory. Drink now.
January 19, 2024 - totally agree with glou.sf description. Funny how we used to be told to drink Beaujolais within 2-3 years of vintage. But then again Foillard doesn't rush this through for the grocery store market. I had his 2011 last week and it was still enjoyable; maybe 89.
May 4, 2023 - Pretty nose with notes of red cherry, raspberry , flowers, and blood orange. Nice acidity with relatively light body and flavors of more red berries, cherries, and spices. Nice finish. Drinking perfectly right now!
April 7, 2023 - Good Friday dinner: Another fruit-forward wine but with more depth than the Joliet. Similar impression to the last time I had this, still was surprised that this was darker than his Morgons. Showed more bubble gum and jamminness with air.
February 5, 2022 - Better than a bottle a year ago. More expressive and balanced. Strawberry and earth.
January 1, 2022 - A little bretty on the nose, tart acidity with black cherry fruit. Very gulpable, but still prefer Foillard's Morgon cuvees which are more red-fruited and lighter on their feet compared to the Fleurie.
February 28, 2021 - This bottle seems a bit shut down. Maybe needs more time? Not at the level I was expecting
December 22, 2020 - Lighter body and color than I remember from release, though maybe I’m thinking of the 13. Has a lovely minty spiced nose, which adds complexity on the palate, accompanying the elegant strawberry/raspberry fruit, prominent though in balance acidity, a hint of tartness to go with the higher toned strawberry notes. Not entirely sure how this will age, I’m a little fearful the fruit might fade a bit more, allowing the acidity to become just a bit too dominant.
June 25, 2020 - Fairly dark, purple garnet, bright spicy floral aromas in the nose, palate is somewhat higher toned raspberry/strawberry, plenty of acidity, with a seeming carbonic note, quite youthful still, no rush to drink.
I haven’t looked at my previous notes, but I remember this vintage being darker, meatier, more brambly. If my memory is right, it’s lost much of that darker character, and turned lighter, more elegant, maybe more typical.
May 10, 2020 - another good 2014 Fleurie. First time with the Foillard Fleurie. It was much bigger then I expected, earthy, almost animal. Also ripe red and black berries, purple and white flowers. Good wine, I think I prefer the Py more from this lineup as of rn. I feel like this will really show itself in another 10 years tho.
