January 13, 2021 - Deep, dark red color. Some chassis notes. Cherry and blackberry taste. Medium tannins. Full mouth feel. Sustained finish.
December 28, 2020 - Dark fruit and velvety. Very enjoyable.
November 6, 2020 - consistent with note from 7/2018 - love this wine, especially 4-8 years from vintage. Had an '11 and it was getting tired. Has the acidity and tannin to handle the massive fruit. 93-94 range tonight.
November 1, 2020 - bon mais je ne pense pas racheter par contre.
October 3, 2020 - Pulled this vintage instead of the '10 or '13 due to the CT drinking windows. Pleasant, old world, wine doesn't taste like the nose. Pretty darn opaque, no fruit on the nose, full-bodied but muted dark blue and black fruit, pairs well with food.
August 10, 2020 - Has morphed into a very pleasant full-bodied smooth wine with some powerful complex fruit. Big finish. Not sure why I opened a '14 instead of an earlier vintage, but drinking well.
July 11, 2020 - not as open and pleasing as it used to be. It needs to be cool as the alcohol is noticeable otherwise. Still a good wine for BBQ.
June 6, 2020 - Wonderful, enjoyable wine. It is so good that I ordered more Clio!
April 25, 2020 - I have to say Clio is one of my favorite special wines and I keep a running vertical in the cellar at all times, can't wait to buy the 2017 vintage but where I live it's hard to find. OK, I opened this wine on a Thursday, nice fresh blueberry/plum fruit on the palate, long soft tannis still showing through on the finish and the color was medium dark, the wine was drinking beautifully. I decided to finish the second half of the bottle on Saturday. Wow! what a difference two days made. The wine had turned inky dark and the fruit was now a stewed plum (not a bad thing) and the tannis still firm but with a lot less grip. All in all the wine was excellent and I believe this vintage can hold up for a few more years.
March 29, 2020 - Was needing a comfort wine last night and Clio never lets me down, so consistent and good, sits on my palate just right. 15.5 % abv just what I needed. Cab Sauv, Tempranillo, and Monastrell. Fruits open up with an hour decant. Savory, brooding, and complex. Blackberries, blueberries, well worn saddle leather and trail dust, and cedar chest. Got to get some more as this was my last bottle.
