May 13, 2020 - Lovely, steely, good acid, citrus.

  • Tobinski Likes this wine:

April 17, 2020 - Reductive nose. White flowers, cream, and pear. Rich yet elegant. Given the price I don’t feel bad being picky by saying I could have used a bit more tension and vibrancy, but at the end of the day this is a balanced and highly appealing wine.

February 18, 2020 - 27 months after the prior: Rich, savory, with a somewhat pleasant hint of astringency. But what some below perhaps perceive as gunflint, we perceive as excessive tar and smoke. Consistent results over three nights.

January 19, 2020 - Bright yellow throughout. With minimal coaxing, there are penetrating aromas of gun flint, ginger, pear and hints of jasmine. Medium-bodied on the palate, loaded with yellow fruits, orange rind and minerals, along with hints of beeswax and honeydew. Excellent length and wonderful balance — nothing is out of place here. A terrific Oregon Chardonnay! 94.

Josh likes reductive wines, doesn't happen in every vintage. His Chardonnay lees solera is very reductive.
Here's an example of that reductive style in the 2014. Next to the not-so-reductive 2017 Sigrid.
Chards are not racked, and no battonage. It's noted that there is more rapid autolysis when racked to tank for 6m, as there is a lot more pressure on the lees with 35 barrels worth of pressure (in tank), vs 228L of pressure in barrel.

When the Chard juice is pressed to barrel it's almost black, zero sulfur until after malo makes stable wines for the long term. 30ppm SO2 at bottling.
    Then 30ppm SO2 at bottling.
