April 21, 2023 - In stark contrast to the last 3 reviews, this wine was advertised to be a 2016 on a Bob's Steak and Chophouse wine menu (in Nashville) and was really quite good with calamari, halibut and seared /herbed tomahawk pork chops.
The one thing to note was that the wine had bled through 80% of the cork at least on the sides. Came out intact. Color was a light to medium straw. Nose was yellow fruit dominant. Palate was rather thick mouthfeel, some bright acidic character and a hint of limestone grit. Yellow peach, banana, kumquat, ripe Bartlett pears, finishing with a bit of white pepper. Very balanced wine. I don't think this one is getting any better, so drink up and enjoy. Requires no decanting.
October 22, 2022 - Denver Wine Group Round 3 (Max's House): To quote Fernando before he dumped it, "This is not a good wine."
January 8, 2021 - Very disappointed
April 5, 2019 - Had two bottles many months apart. Neither were very good. Either both corked or this just didn’t work for us. Not a lot of fruit and seemed almost astringent
December 18, 2018 - Tropical, sea breezy aromas of orchard fruit, orange creamsicle, lemon oil, and brioche. Layered, vinous, and structured on the spice-driven palate, with wisps of buttery oak that lend a gentle richness to the satiny, taffeta-like texture. Spicy ginger expands on the long, resinous finish.
November 27, 2017 - Light yellow color, with complex lemon aromas of tart lemon juice and zest. Glides into the mouth on a caressing coating of virgin olive oil and unsalted butter. The swallow adds a hint of astringency that is gently washed away by juicy saliva. Overall, has great clarity and vividness of flavors throughout, with no pie sweetness, blandness, heaviness, or premature aging. Excellent value for this high quality.
October 26, 2017 - Medium gold with some green; nose of vanilla, beeswax and buttered toast; palate follows nose with lemon; became more buttery as it warmed up, but also sharper on palate; medium plus, pleasant finish; not good value for the price point
August 25, 2017 - very good every day chard.
August 2, 2017 - Am redoing this note as, upon trying it a 2nd time, I liked it much better. Nevertheless, it is of the style of the highly overrated and outrageously priced Rombauer Carneros Chardonnay — i.e., with much emphasis on barrel fermentation and oak aging, and less so on fruit and acidity. Bruce Neyers is an old friend — we both started in the wine business in the early 1970s — and I applaud his continuing success.
July 23, 2017 - Nice balance of the oakiness/butter with more stone fruits and citrus flavors. I think this would please most Chardonnay drinkers. Good value.
