  November 7, 2011 - I opened this after letting it warm up closer to room temperature. The color was a medium ruby with perhaps a hint of orange on the edge, but only visible in good light with a white background. The predominate flavors included clove, allspice, some leather and a hint of tobacco. No discernable fruit notes, although I suspect they existed. Mid to back palate the wine became noticably thinner and a bit weak on the finish, the main reason for the low score. Expected more from a Gran Reserva!

  September 7, 2008 - No detailed notes, but I recall that this wine opened up a lot after an hour or so (was not good at all at first), revealing nicer flavors after that. The wine, again as I recall, had a thinner midpalate and not as much spicy oomph as I would have liked. 86-87
