April 20, 2024 - Aging well, got better as it opened up. Nose earthy, tart fruit, taste dry, tart cherry, blueberry, and something else I can put a finger on. Finish long and strong tannin notes, very pleasant to drink.

December 12, 2023 - Opened, poured and let sit about 40 min. Then: Kind of smoky on the nose. Taste is cool blueish fruit, low-medium intensity, stays that way through the finish; some smokiness; almost mellow mouthfeel; tannins and acidity not an issue. Maybe some syrah profile. Pleasant wine, but nothing to distinguish it.

October 29, 2023 - Very much the big bold fruit forward wine. Has years to go. Well liked by my neighbor as he sucked down about three quarters of the bottle. Interesting pairing as I also opened a '07 aglianico.

June 18, 2023 - Properly cellared, checked in again since last bottle 4 years again. Powerful syrah fruit now way more upfront. Took 2+ hours decant and the grapefruit finally popped out. Drink now or plenty of life left.

August 14, 2022 - Opened and let sit about 2 hrs. Then: Not much nose, maybe some dark fruit. Taste is more dark fruit with ample acidity. Over time, the acidity mellows; some floral notes; maybe a bit disjointed; begins to get towards something interesting on the finish, but never makes it. I guess I was expecting something a bit more Rhoneish, but this isn't it. Pleasant drinking wine, but not necessarily what I would associate with syrah.

April 1, 2022 - Captures lifted youthful fruit and and developing savoriness. One of the best CA Syrahs without the heaviness of tar, asphalt, and black olive characterizing altogether too much Syrah. Abundant floral notes, offering violets, Damask rose, tea rose, blackberry compote, light oak, a strong mid-palate, smooth tannins, and medium length.

January 11, 2022 - Very similar to last bottle notes on 11/12/19 but now white pepper shows on both nose and palate. Still quite youthful at nearly 7 1/2 years of age. Still 91+ points. Went great w/ pot roast.
