April 20, 2024 - No rating. Effusive nose of black truffles and dark fruit. Palate rounded with briar herbs seasoning truffled plums on the palate. Perhaps a bit of oxidation. Drinkable but wild and complex. Drink up!

December 18, 2023 - Red fruit, wild herbs and spring flowers come together in this spectacular field blend. There are eleven different white grape varietals in this wine. Aromatically pleasing. Great depth and texture. Mike Officer delivers Zinfandels that have a silky touch. Great juice.

June 11, 2023 - Red and blue fruit, wild herbs, licorice and Christmas spice come together to create a magnificent Russian River Valley Zinfandel. So aromatic. With approximately 40 different grapes, several white varieties, this wine delivers a level of complexity rarely found in wine. This is a special wine in every way. Great juice.

May 26, 2023 - Last of 3 bottles and this was the best showing. Prior pair felt I got to them a touch late but this one had the classic Carlisle vineyard acidity holding things together. More zip that expected. Still recommend drink now, but hoping others get this kind of showing. Juicy red/black fruits, great aromatics.

April 20, 2023 - Drank the decanted remainder from 4/17 with which I had filled a 375 ml on uncorking. Beautiful Zinfandel, fresh, quaffable, in a class with quality Beaujolais and Barbera.

Layered blue and red fruit, lifted bright acidity, and an underlying passacaglia of extract and tannin shape a structural frame for the evolving liqueur and port notes. The addition (13%) of Alicante Bouschet, Petite Sirah, Grand Noir, Peloursin, Trousseau noir, Tempranillo, etc. makes a difference. A wine that illustrates Carlisle's often-inspired Zinfandel wine-making.
