May 6, 2022 - Immediately ready, the 90 Langoa Barton generously gives wild raspberry, mesquite smoke, cedar, beef blood, and worn leather. The palate is more strict, still with tannic backbone to spare. But a beauty with beef and, as is so often the case with Langoa, the glass is emptied with astonishing rapidity… this is to be seized now as it declined steadily over the 2 hours we had it open.

April 19, 2020 - Fully mature, round, medium bodied, soft, very pleasant but for a Third Growth from 1990, a little bland. Kinda an 88-89 point wine, one we happily drink, but not one we really need to seek again.

December 26, 2017 - Gently perfumed nose, faint. Rustic, rusty, ferrous, sweaty, a touch feral, a bit of spice, cinnamon.

November 3, 2017 - From a half bottle yet surprisingly youthful in looks given its still a deep dark red with little browning. A nose of truffles and forest floor. No tannins remain. Drink up. I feel this is probably past it's peak.

June 23, 2017 - Firm. Flourished with 90 mins in the decanter. Some nice, deep, purple, fruit and some fresher fruit. Good concentration, spice. Early on I was preparing to say maybe not the best bottle and perhaps it was not quite.

June 4, 2017 - Classy Julien, but slightly faded and a bit short.

December 30, 2016 - A very floral and perfumed nose, with red fruits playing second fiddle. Continued to open up and gain complexity as the decanting time lengthened, peaking around 3 hours after opening. On the palate the wine is elegant and rounded, but disappointingly simple for a wine of this age and pedigree. Red fruit and cassis are most prominent, with no significant presence of complex secondary elements or lasting finish. The wine is not fading at all, but probably won't evolve or improve much from here either.

October 23, 2016 - The cork was in place and tight, however it simply crumbled upon removal. The wine had a lot of very fine sediment. As a result I decanted this bottle with a strainer four times. The wine then sat for about two hours. By the time we drank it, it had just a hint of a mature Bordeaux aroma. The color was good and the wine was very enjoyable to drink. There was a fair amount of remaining fruit on the palate.

December 25, 2015 - Nez expressif et pur aux arômes de fruits rouges, de cuir et fines herbes. Bouche ultrafine, douce et enveloppant comme le velours. En bref, délicieux.

November 9, 2015 - Classic in style, the wine is a bit firm in character. The earthy, tobacco, cedar and cassis nose is a bit more interesting than the bright, crisp, full bodied, slightly hard palate. There is an herbal note in the earthy cassis driven finish. Lovers of more traditional Bordeaux will probably like this even more than I did.
