August 28, 2018 - Checking in after 18 months, this continues to smooth out beautifully. Rich, caramel, and fantastic with curried prawns. Extremely enjoyable over four nights.

February 28, 2017 - Similar to our note two months ago -- this time with more pronounced smoothness and even a suggestion of creaminess on the very long finish. Lovely, meted out in small pours over five nights. This is our favorite bottling of the five reds and whites we have had from this house.

December 27, 2016 - The notes below encouraged us go back and open yet another. It continues to be very distinctive stuff, and we enjoyed it (over four nights, simply corked in between) especially with prawns and shellfish infused with slightly spiced oils -- the best matches being a combination of (1) jalapeño and ginger, and running quite close (2) another and separate rendition with just currie. This wine, and its related oxidative cousins, is a lovely foil to these kinds of flavors.

December 23, 2016 - P&p at cellar temp; filled a 500ml bottle to save for tomorrow and began drinking the remainder immediately. Smells fantastic - full blown oxidative/nutty/Madras curry, seemlessly combined with fresh citrus (roughly like sour orange/Meyer lemon), orchard fruit, and chamomile/mint/herbs. On the palate the oxidative character is further counterbalanced by terrific tart acidity together with pronounced salinity, with green apple, lemon, salt, and honey coming through as the dominant flavors, with savory, spicy, and herbaceous nuances. Intense yet nicely balanced. Seems like drink or hold. Good stuff!

    Day 2: no discernible change.

November 12, 2016 - Should have read the notes here before purchasing. While I've become a big fan of ouillé and moderately oxidized Jura whites, this one was not my style. Too much bruised apple and not enough acidity in the bottle we drank. We'll be trying the Melon à Queue Rouge and Chateau Renard soon, both of which are reportedly topped-up. Bornard's Melon à Queue Rouge is one of the most amazing white wines I've ever had.
