October 3, 2022 - Still pretty dark in color for a 30 year old. I have 5 bottles left and need to get busy drinking them before they go over the hill. They are definitely declining but still pretty good. My wife hated it because she loves big bold young Cabs. I love them also but also love an old dusty Cab. It is definitely declining with soft tannins. Drink up!

October 24, 2020 - I'm afraid these 90's bottles are shot. This one was cloudy amber and no longer drinkable.

February 11, 2018 - Vinetasters: Robert Mondavi Reserve (1970-1998) (Skokie, IL): Served blind in a Mondavi lineup. A fairly middle-of-the-road example, with a somewhat more dilute palate. The fruit still strikes me as mostly primary, showing a bit of tart plums and cherries. The tannins are in the midst of being resolved; this is a fairly light example. Seems a bit tart, overall, perhaps something like 15 years old? My 5th, group's 6th.

July 27, 2016 - Had at a tasting dinner celebrating Mondavi wines. I was excited to try a 24 year old cab and was pleasantly surprised that it was still drinking well. Little fruit left, but it really complemented the pasta dish it was served with. A herb pasta, forest floor, duck confit, romesco.

September 24, 2013 - Decanted. The wine opened in about 45 min. There is a nice "old Cab" nose of black currant, cherry, and pencil shavings.

The pallet is primarily black currant, eucalyptus, and oak, with black spice highlights. There is a decent finish of black coffee and tobacco.
The tannins are very soft, with low acidity. The wine seems to have peaked, but it is still very enjoyable.

April 16, 2010 - Good provenance on this bottle as far as I know. Cork was soaked only 1/5th up but the corkscrew pulled out of the soft cork. Very dark color with some slight bricking. Beautiful aroma of cedar box and florals. Unfortunately, the palate did not live up to the nose, as the fruit was well past its prime and the mid-palate was nowhere to be found. There was some nice red currant, cedar, and leather along with some tannins still present. Pretty nice, but I bet this would have been fantastic 4 or 5 years ago.

March 18, 2007 - Nice taste and fragrance but a bit thin, tannic and harsh...perhaps it is past its prime...improved a little after being open 24 hours

July 16, 2005 - 5 years of Mondavi Napa CS '90-'94 and other assorted bottles (Encino, CA.): This one is in the same mold as the 1991 with more flavors of cassis and cedar and less underbrush and pine needle. This one had the shortest life of the bunch. The finish started off with some length, but dried out after about an hour. I have had better bottles of the '92.
