October 12, 2019 - This wine is in a really good place now. Needs a couple of hours of air AND food to really shine. Nose is incredibly perfumed of crushed red berries, roses, black tea, spices, crushed chalky stones and some light balsamic tones. Body gives a light impression at first but much like a chambolle can be, there is a massive texture to this wine with fine grained tannins that needs to work with food to really become an experience out of this earth. This wine just keeps growing over the course of the meal. In my all-time-top-ten for sure. bless you maria theresa.

September 22, 2019 - Started out gorgeously, with red fruits and candied violets. Was going to give it 95, but it started to fall a bit flat after an hour.

August 29, 2019 - A good wine but disappointing compared to when I tasted it two years ago, when it without a doubt was the best of 118 Barolo's I tasted from the 2013 vintage.
It could be a "less good bottle" but I think that it is more likely that the wine has gone into a "closed state" and that it will open in 4 years time.
It needs 18 degrees and a lot of air...

April 14, 2019 - Comparative Tasting of B. Mascarello Barolo and G. Mascarello Barolo Monprivato (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Ripe, somewhat heady dark cherry scents. In contrast, saline, lean, and earthy in the mouth with grainy tannins. As it airs out, more cherry fruit and nicely balanced by soil on the finish, but this still comes to a pretty abrupt close and is tough going right now. Properly young and austere.

March 15, 2019 - Uncles Fine Wine Spring BYO (Home): The nose has fresh, moist tobacco, blue fruit, something sweet, sour and floral. It is complex. Tight structure, while delicious fruit flavors penetrates the curtain of tannins. Complex and lovely wine that was perceived as surprisingly accessible now.
