Community Tasting Notes 5

  • scorbett Likes this wine:

March 16, 2020 - Butterscotch, lemon meringue pie, bruised red apple -- both in the nose and palate.

Still nice mineral backbone. 5th bottle I've had in the last 12 months... it's decidedly away from its youthful phase now.

Superb value chard. Leaning more decadent now.

November 28, 2019 - Medium yellow, nice leesy, slightly toasty nose, very elegant, very French - palate is great, super fresh, with flavours more in the citric range, but it has a lovely shape, a roundness that accentuates the freshness, long finish. As expected from a '14 P-F, this is lovely.

  • scorbett Likes this wine:

March 14, 2019 - Perfectly integrated pudding of browned butter, faint citrus, and taut minerality.

Nose leads with the butter, and then it comes back so sexy and oily at the end, even for a zippy white like this. Might be some red apple skins in there, too.

November 11, 2017 - Pale lemon colour. Medium nose with pear, peach, oak, charred wood, wax, hazelnuts, ripe lemon and wet stone. Medium taste of pear, peach, ripe lemon, hazelnut, oak and wet stone. Long and dry finish. Medium acidity. Medium body. A very good Pouilly-Fuissé on the oaky side. Needed and hour to open up. Drink now or over the next couple of years. Goes well with cheeses, fish or shellfish.
