Community Tasting Notes 4

June 12, 2015 - 2nd bottle even better than the first. Drink this red by itself. It displays wonder red cherry, earth, spice, baked apples. On the palate it is perfectly aged Bourgoge.

    Wonderful.

April 26, 2015 - A wonderful nose. Very elegant and pure. Aged notes of spice and earth and perfume of dried flowers. On the palate this was completely resolved: red fruit, fine minerality, light and elegant. With air, this put on some weight and sweetness. Remarkable considering the vintage. As noted below the perfumed nose makes this excellent. Very much showing it's terroir.

April 25, 2015 - One of the noses of the night to me, with an alluring perfume of flowers, strawberry, and gentle spice. This was a bit light on the palate, where it showed its age somewhat, but it was still terrific. Definitely a fan favorite, despite one vocal detractor.

July 18, 2010 - A wonderful wine that illustrates perfectly why scores are frequently useless. Upon opening it was a bit lean and acidic but after about 30 minutes the fruit came around and it drank perfectly thereafter. As lovely as this is on the palate, however, it's not particularly long or powerful and is really more about the aromatics. So while an objective critic may consider it to be under fruited and only score it in the low 90s, if you have a nose for well made, mature wines from the Cote de Nuits then you're going to chose a wine like this over any number of 100pters from other regions.
