February 10, 2024 - I think this one had better days. Not bad, but way too old. The nose was the best with beautiful tertiary aromas of mushrooms, wet earth, forest floor, wood. Palate couldn't match the nose by far, but it was drinkable. Drink up if you have a bottle left in your cellar! 92 for the nose, 88 for the palate, 90 pts. overall

August 20, 2021 - This performed significantly better than anticipated. The nose was classic old claret; cedar, dried tobacco, dried black currant, damp earth, leather, and some floral hints. The palate was fully resolved from a tannin perspective, but still has pretty good concentration and a lovely earth/mineral driven finish. Really quite enjoyable.

December 17, 2020 - Sourced this back in Aug 2018 so a mere 2yrs in my cellar. Opened a couple hrs prior to dinner & finding this fully resolved, mellow and sporting a clean healthy nose, I decided to just put the cork back in till closer to dinner. This has essentially evolved into Chambolle Musigny over 39yrs. Color is a semi translucent red. Aromas are subtle whiffs of cigar, cedar & earth. This is lacy and exceedingly elegant with a quiet mix of; fading & trace red fruit, licorice, light underbrush and mushroom. This would deserve a higher score if the fruit and aromas had more of a presence. The very best days have passed but I'm happy there was no oxidation or anything weird going on. The cork was in decent shape at age 39 and the fill still in the lower neck. All in all, a pleasant aged "claret". Celebrated son Joe's 39th Bday with this and a 04 Tait Comte.

June 2, 2020 - This wine still has a lot of life in it. Color was light garnet. At first aroma of cinnamon dark fruit. Lilac and dark fruit abounded in the flavor.
