April 14, 2022 - Translucent red with a tinge of brown. Faint, red-fruited nose. Pleasant enough on the palate but rather simple. Cherries, bit of blackberry. Soft tannins, good acidity, decent balance. A touch hot. Finishes moderately long with spice and red fruits. Drink up. Not that bad, but given the vineyard source, disappointing even at this age. 45% Mourvèdre; 30% Syrah; 25% Grenache. 14.8% ABV.

April 30, 2015 - Under screwcap. This has aged beautifully. Was worried that this would be too big, but it is exceptionally well-balanced. A bit of barnyard/funk, brambly fruit, deep, complex, very long, complete finish. At $45 on release in 2006 this wasn't cheap, but I wish I had bought more.

March 9, 2015 - This Rhone blend is comprised of 45% Mourvedre, 30% Syrah and 25% Grenache. In the glass, the wine is a cloudy ruby with an enticing aroma of maraschino cherry. On the palate, the wine, is medium to full-bodied with the same maraschino cherry, as well as licorice, baking spices and muted oak. It has a medium-length finish and is perfectly integrated; so, I would imbibe it now rather than waiting for it to improve in the cellar. Absolutely delightful, and an incredible hit at the last party I attended. Unlike other Villa Creek wines, this vintage came with a screw cap, which probably explains its vibrant attack even after 11 years in the bottle.

September 29, 2012 - BLACK CHERRIES, RASPBERRIES, AND SPICE IN THE NOSE WITH CHERRIES, LICORICE, AND EARTHINESS IN THE FLAVOR. A RUSTIC WINE WITH NICE LEGS AND A MEDIUM TO LONG FINISH.

March 15, 2012 - Sadly, I think this one has gone over the hill. Very little fruit left and a bit of menthol going on. It was ok but not what I expected.

January 7, 2012 - Dusty garnet colored and deep ruby hues. This wine gave off notes of figs, mushrooms, and earthier types of flavors. It definitely evolved throughout the night. The figs gave way to dark chocolate, smoke, and blackberries. This wine is undoubtedly jam packed with wonderful flavors and is aging well, although I'm not sure how much more good father time will do to it.

December 17, 2011 - Decanted for 3 hours. Drank this over a 5 hour period. Dark purple with an explosive nose of game and tobacco. I had high hopes for the High Road, but the alcohol seemed to overpower the fruit. There was tobacco, some blue and red fruit, and a earthiness that was fantastic when not being shoved out of the way by the alcohol. The finish is what really stuck with me. Finish just kept going on and on, and on, and on for a good 45+ seconds. Just wish the alcohol would have blown off.

December 4, 2011 - Smooth, good fruit, light acid, minimal tannins, easy drinking. Exactly as expected for Paso GSM. Found twice at $29 great QPR... sadly looks like that deal is gone.

September 11, 2010 - Vibrant wine with blackberry and rasberry fruit that is bright and focused. What starts as almost Zinfandel like brambly notes changes to leather, lavender and herbs with time in the glass. The rich mouthfeel and abundant fruit are reigned in a cooling acidity that keeps all the components balanced.
