    October 7, 2020 - Great bottle. Long vibrant finish and plenty of power and structure. Give it 20-30 mins to open up at least as quite big upon opening. Lovely aged Krug notes and will go some time but just nicely entering its window now. Made note of burnt caramel on nose but was after several bottles and glasses on the go so would like to revisit. I do have some more thankfully,

    August 19, 2020 - This is fantastic and just starting to gain the complexity of maturity. Has that classic nutty, mushroomy Krug aroma which is well balanced by the precise and poised palate. This is a masterpiece of balance, a tremendous umami amplifier, and a wine that is truly transcendent.

    July 13, 2020 - not blind
    together with Krug 2002. For me 98 it is similar to 2004 but not with that longivity. At his peak at the moment. Will stay there for the next 10 years. Missing concentartion and length of the 2002. 94-95

    (Krug) This vintage is notable for being only the second ever, after the 1981, where the blend is dominated by Chardonnay. A fine clarity here on inspection, more vibrant and shimmering than the slightly richer, more matt 1996. A touch sulphurous on the nose today though, although underneath this there is a roasted element, intertwined closely with coffee beans, with a floral-citrus character laid on top. The palate is fresh, breathtakingly clean and pure, with finely delineated flavours of pithy citrus fruits and coffee. Deep and minerally, with a firm and structured finish, crisp yet broad, it has a long, incisive, fresh and pure finish. The 1996 is without a doubt the greater wine, but this is perhaps more approachable now, and surely it will drink sooner? Overall, excellent wine.
