September 23, 2019 - Pausing for the Cause 2019 (Chicago, IL): This bottle was pretty odd; it definitely didn't show well. The palate and nose are all classic Krug, but the midpalate seems to be a bit thin and there's just not much there. The fruit profile is a slight bit more oxidized than I would like too. Nowhere as good as from magnum a few years ago.

September 21, 2019 - A blend of 35% Pinot Noir, 46% Chardonnay, 19% Pinot Meunier, disgorged 2010. Mature but lively appearance, pale golden colour, small but not minuscule bubbles; rich and complex nose, red and yellow fruits, fresh nuts and warm spices, almonds and cherry stones, autumn forest, salty minerality, excellent depth; full-bodied and vinous but quite elegant palate, creamy mousse, harmonious and silky, pear, almond and lime flavours, gentle bitters, acidity seems softer than from magnum four years ago but remains steely; very good resonance and length. On its plateau of maturity, drink now - 2028.

August 23, 2019 - Nose: The nose is full of controlled power that immediately fills the glass with Brioche, quince, red apples, vanilla, white chocolate, custard, smokey notes, bosc pear, honey, and toast notes. There is a lot of depth and richness to the nose, but with with a raw side as well.

Taste: Full bodied with high acidity. The acidity is well integrated and balanced with a slight bit of crispness. The feel is powerful, rich, textured, and deep with brioche, quince, red apples, vanilla, white chocolate, custard, bosc pears, and toast notes.

Overall: This is drinking beautifully right now, but it feels like there is more than it can give down the road. The acidity and feel are lovely, but there seems to be something holding it slightly back that is hard to put my finger on. Still, this was a real pleasure to drink.

(Krug) This vintage is notable for being only the second ever, after the 1981, where the blend is dominated by Chardonnay. A fine clarity here on inspection, more vibrant and shimmering than the slightly richer, more matt 1996. A touch sulphurous on the nose today though, although underneath this there is a roasted element, intertwined closely with coffee beans, with a floral-citrus character laid on top. The palate is fresh, breathtakingly clean and pure, with finely delineated flavours of pithy citrus fruits and coffee. Deep and minerally, with a firm and structured finish, crisp yet broad, it has a long, incisive, fresh and pure finish. The 1996 is without a doubt the greater wine, but this is perhaps more approachable now, and surely it will drink sooner? Overall, excellent wine.
