Really had my doubts -- pulling the cork was a mess! However, was able to decant through a fine sieve to remove bits and pieces of the cork. And thge bottle was not "corked!"
Color: light brown/red; skinny legs
Nose: Medium intensity. Warm dried red fruits and minerality. Continued to open over the time we drank it.
Body/flavor: light body. Complex flavors of dried red fruits and berries. Very distinctive. No off aromas.
Aftertaste: lingering finish
Oh so many years ago... this bottle traveled many miles, sat quietly and then amazed all of us!
May 17, 2023 - Sehr jugendlich , kaum Reifenoten. Das Tanningerüst gibt ihm Potenzial für weitere Jahrzehnte. Füllstand kaum reduziert, Korken für das Alter sehr gut.
March 2, 2023 - Well aged with strong fruit note still remains.
January 21, 2023 - The 50 Big Bash (Harry's NYC): Not sure that this was a perfect bottle. There was something not quite right on it. Too bad.
November 30, 2022 - Second time tasting this wine, and once again it's quite lovely. Opulent and hedonistic fruit, still going strong. One of the wines of the vintage, no doubt.
November 7, 2022 - Similar to my last encounter with wine in 2021; the point to underline is just how remarkably, shockingly tannic this is. People wrote about the 1928s in the 1950s and 1960s, wondering if they would ever come around - I think the parallel here is inescapable.
February 13, 2022 - Love this wine. Great nose of lilies, herbs, dark fruit, cedar, tobacco. Structured wine that will last a long time.
February 13, 2022 - Always a treat, this 47 year old wine still presents a bit hard, but very regal. Will age indefinitely.
February 7, 2022 - Opened and poored a little glass 1h before serving. Just what it needed for the Tanins to smoothen up and open.
Then its just like enjoying a very nice cigar, but its wine. It’s beautiful and you want more.
Hats off to deliver this at close to 50 yrs old
