July 7, 2017 - Still young, just getting started. Another very classy showing. This blend of 95% Nebbiolo and 5% Vespolina presents a lovely, bright garnet>garnet+ hue, it's clear and fades ever so to the rim. The nose is soil driven for the first 2/3 of the bottle - which is just fine with me. Paired with braised rabbit over fettucine, with roasted carrots and peas, this was a great pairing. The body is not quite medium - I think it will continue to add weight as it ages - the tannins, very fine. Acids slightly dominate the fruits now, but that's really splitting hairs as ultimately the balance and freshness here are correct. I'd say the last glass was the best, but it's more accurate to say that some 2 hours after opening, it was the last sip that was the best. If I had more, I'd let them rest another 4-5 years, it's only going to get better. Lovely, structured, traditional. 14,5% abv. is fully resolved. recommended

October 24, 2016 - I like the wine of Lessona region, on balance. That said, they can be hit and miss, as if many are still catching up with the times. The wines are often rustic, most certainly un-polished and generally favor acids over fruit. Not all though, and this is a perfect example of balance, purity and just plain good winegrowing. Satisfying on many levels (and certainly a terrific food wine), this offers some unexpected depth and complexity that draws out some characteristics of the place and grape that many other examples often fail to deliver. Tasted previously at their table/booth at VinItaly, and again just now, this is a harmonious, understated wine - and a terrific value. recommended

Audozed 3 hours, double decanted just prior to service at cellar temp.

June 25, 2016 - Holy sh*t this wine rocked my world. This has to be the best Lessona I've come across to date. The femininity and prettiness of the Nebbiolo was trancing, nearly hypnotizing. Normal wines here are so acidic, but everything came together so well and has left me thinking about on the next day. 95% Neb / 5% Vespolina.
