June 5, 2019 - Prior bottle was almost nine months ago and this wine remain in a very good spot. Nose remains a mix of apple, pear and melon with some hints of peach starting to creep in as it warms. Close to medium bodied with open white apple notes upfront, backed with slightly tart pear and then rounder, more open peach through the mid-body. The pear and melon towards the backside blend into the lemon, grapefruit and mineral notes through the finish. The intense acidity that comes across almost as a chalkiness that some Forge Rieslings exhibit young has blended into the background as a pleasant structural note. This wine now feels more a good mix of white orchard fruit and tart citrus fruit, bound up with good structure. Showing close to peak at present and should be able to hold this level for another 18 months or so.

September 15, 2018 - A wine with a few powerful elements, that are working to integrate. High acidity lends a mouth-puckering lemon/citrus note to the mix. The residual sugar adds sweetness that mostly balances against the acidity. On day one, these two components were in-your-face in the front of the experience, and drew focus to each in turn. On day two, they were much more in balance. Will wait on the remaining bottles.

September 13, 2018 - Prior bottle was nearly 11 months ago and this wine continues to show well. Mix of apple, pear and melon on the nose. Both the nose and the body were much more whitefruit based, having lots most of the green fruit elements from the prior bottle. Close to medium bodied with apple upfront and noticeable and distinct elements of pear and melon. Mid-body brings in some peach notes along with a touch of additional depth, but overall, this wine felt like it had a touch more density than the Sunrise Hill from the prior day. Finish remains lemon, grapefruit and mineral. There's no shortage of structure, but the fruit felt more in balance with the tart notes so that the fruit came off as more expressive, there was less chalkiness and the general impression was better balance while remaining quite dry. Can probably continue to improve along these lines over the next couple of years and I will open my next bottle in Spring 2019.

October 17, 2017 - First from bottle, previously tasted 11 months ago at the winery. Opened at 49F, warming to 52F and showed the best on the colder side of that spectrum where the fruit felt more precise and defined. The warmer it got, the less elegance it seemed to show. Distinctly white/green tinged apricot along with very nice floral notes on the nose. Close to medium bodied with white apricot upfront, backed with green melon and pear through the middle and lemon, grapefruit and mineral notes through the finish. When on the colder side, the interplay between the fruit and acidity works extremely well and coupled with the overall weight and structure, made for a very enjoyable bottle. The fruit becomes a little softer and perhaps slightly muddled as it warms so I would drink it cooler now or hold for a bit longer.

November 19, 2016 - Tasted at the winery. A bigger nose than the Sunrise Hill, but more in line stylistically with the basic riesling. Noticeably bigger in body than the Sunrise Hill, but an identical 12.5% ABV and 0.25% RS. Lots of grapefruit upfront along with a deep, rich streak of soft lime mixed with hints of peach through the middle and a much more tart lemon note towards the back. You'd never guess that this wine and the Sunrise Hill have identical RS. This is a slightly more complete wine than the Sunrise Hill with a bit more depth as well. I don't plan to try my first bottle until at least Fall 2017 and it should continue to improve over the next 2-3 years.
