April 17, 2022 - Showing marvelously well today. A little toasted hazelnut at 8 years, but extremely elegant with powerful apple, pear and stone complexities. Purchases on release and well stored. it you are a fan of big fruit, rich and complex chardonnay, this is a treat. Cheers Mark and Teresa on another world class wine!

July 16, 2021 - Annual gathering with Chicago winos in Chicago (Smyth and The Loyalist - Chicago IL): Expressive nose displaying very ripe yellow fruit, peach, white peach, lemon curd, cracker jack, cream soda, a hint of flint, sweet spices and limestone. Exceptional concentration, layers upon layers of concentrated yellow fruit, rich and creamy, medium acidity, good mineral expression and a long ripe yellow fruit driven finish with butter popcorn at the end. Drinking beautifully.

July 16, 2021 - DC/Chicago Wine Dinner Extravaganza (Smyth and The Loyalist - Chicago IL): In Aubert 2014 horizontal. Also very rich with impressive concentration, showing plenty of tropical fruit and poached pear. Fresh enough to remain balanced, but not particularly finessed.

March 4, 2021 - Put this wine in and a 2014 Kistler Durell to see which would fare better blind. Everyone but me liked the Kistler better, which I found surprising. Both still fared well, although for me, I found the Aubert a hair better, but likely keep purchasing both, as these turn into great wines with some bottle age.

The Kistler was more subtle with the oak way more integrated than the Aubert, although this wine showed more fruit in addition to oak. I would say this wine drank "younger" than the Kistler, and should improve more than the Kistler, even though both are drinking quite well. I would guess both will peak at about 10. years old, i.e., 2024.

This wine showed plenty of apple, pear and some citrus, as well as some toasted oak and some minerality. Delicious now, but should improve. 94+ now

March 4, 2021 - Bordeaux Blends Smackdown (Zoom): Drank double blind. This wine was clearly chardonnay, and a fat rich one with oak influence and butter. The palate tasted like there was a lot of malo. Round and ripe, peach and tropical fruit. It was clearly a well made wine of good pedigree, I was just slightly bothered by the sweetness and oak. It's interesting that I liked this wine significantly more 1.5 years ago when I knew what it was.
