December 2, 2019 - Exceptionally complex and interesting nose, with a deep, dark bouquet of melted licorice, purple flowers, espresso, blueberries, plums, and pepper. The mouthfeel is heavy in gritty tannins but otherwise rather thin (especially in the the context of the wine's aromas and color). I find this wine inelegant and imbalanced (though aromatically fascinating). I have no idea how it will age from here.

July 26, 2019 - Goodness, this is a beautiful wine at a beautiful point. Deep, dark, and brooding with layer after layer of complex flavors. Nose is earth, baking spice, white pepper verging on black pepper, and very ripe red plums. Palate is startling with dark licorice, espresso, baking cocoa, savory herb notes, fennel, and anise. Texture is silky graphite and very hedonistic. Acidity is balanced or just a bit bright. Finish is never ending with blackstrap molasses and black licorice never letting go. Wow, I wish I had more of this!

March 31, 2018 - Deep dark bold rich red color, but bouquet of blackberries and summer berries. Spellbinding nose, this is drinking so well right now, but clearly has many years left to evolve. Drank over two nights, and was great on pop-and-pour, and 24 hours later. Really special.

March 26, 2018 - Inky dark color, fruit still vibrant and silky smooth. This particular bottle has been well cellared for 14 years and I can't imagine that it would get any better with further aging. If you still have a bottle, open 'er up and enjoy! A real credit to Turley's then winemaker, Ehren Jordan.

November 3, 2016 - nancy did not like the smell, slightly funky. Did not bother me. Did not taste old and was interesting. Somewhat tart/acidic. Lingering flavor. I think this will continue to improve. Multifaceted flavors, they continue to change on the palate. Waves of different fruits and spices. Delicious. Not as elegant as the 2006 Pride we also drank but much more complex. 93pts.
